I don’t think I ever mentioned to you that I also sponsor our local vegan Meetup group, Verde Valley Vegans. Today, we are doing our first community outreach event.
The local grade school’s PTO hosts this annual fund raiser called, Old Tyme Country Fair. I’ve been told that it is the largest school fund raising event in the Sedona - Verde Valley area, with prior years’ events far exceeding over 500 people. There will also be local entertainment and hay rides, etc. This year there will be over fifty booths ranging from crafters, to artists, to the local sustainable gardening student club.
And then there’s us….Verde Valley Vegans. We will be there providing education regarding the benefits of adopting a plant-based diet and nutrition for children. We are grateful to have received a grant from VegFund to provide a variety of vegan food sampling items as well as literature donations from the American Vegan Society, PETA, and PCRM. Field Roast, the makers of Chao cheese, sausages, and frankfurters, graciously donated samples of those products for the event.
Stay tuned…tomorrow will be photos and some additional ‘how-to’ tips to make your vegan advocacy and education outreach event a success.
